About Daniel Yamun Ukang
Daniel Ukang’s extraordinary journey began in a small South Sudanese village, where civil war shattered his childhood and set him on a path of survival as one of the “Lost Boys of Sudan.” Enduring years in refugee camps across Ethiopia and Kenya, Daniel never lost faith in the power of hope and education.
Resettled in the United States, Daniel transformed adversity into advocacy—sharing his story to illuminate the struggles and resilience of the Lost Boys. Through his writing and speaking, he inspires others to reflect on the meaning of perseverance, the pain of displacement, and the universal longing for peace.
Hinterlands of Hope is Daniel’s testament to the strength of the human spirit and the enduring quest for a better future.
